A spark for the blank page
Knowing what to draw is often harder than drawing. This wheel gives you a playful starting point with each spin: 26 prompts like a robot chef, a castle in the clouds, a fox in a raincoat or a tiny world in a jar. Each one is open enough for any style and skill level.
Ways to use the prompts
- Daily sketching: spin once each morning and draw for ten minutes.
- Art lessons: spin at the start of class as a warm-up.
- Family game: everyone draws the same prompt, then compares.
- Timed rounds: two minutes per drawing, then spin again.
Elimination mode removes each prompt after it is used, so a month of daily spins never repeats.
Make your own prompt wheel
The wheel opens in the full Picker Wheel, so you can add ideas that match a theme: seasons, animals, a class topic or characters from a story you are reading. Write simpler prompts for younger artists, like "A happy sun", and weight them, for example 2.A happy sun, to make them come up more.
Save your wheel or share the link with an art club. Teachers can embed it on a class page for independent work.
Combine wheels for extra fun
Try a second wheel of art styles or materials, such as pencil only, three colours, or draw with your other hand. Spin both and combine the results. A dragon reading a book, drawn with three colours, is a lovely challenge for a rainy afternoon.
For a group, set a five-minute timer, draw in silence and then hold up the results together. Everyone will interpret the same prompt in a completely different way, which is half the fun and a great way to talk about ideas, not just skill.
Keep finished drawings together in a folder or sketchbook. Looking back after a month of prompts is a lovely way to see how much your ideas and confidence have grown.
