Flag Quiz is a free guess the flag game on WheelPlay. Spin a wheel of continents, a real flag appears, and you pick the right country from the answer choices. A round is 10 questions, and your best score for each mode is saved in your browser.
It covers about 195 countries plus state and region flags from 23 countries, so it works as a quick world flags quiz, a state flags quiz for a US geography unit, or a daily warm-up. There is no sign-up and nothing to install.
How to play the flag quiz
Tap SPIN, let the continent wheel choose where the flag comes from, then tap the country name you think matches. Ten flags make one round.
1. Pick a mode
Choose Countries – Easy, Countries – Hard or State & region flags before you start.
2. Spin for a continent
The wheel has six slices: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania. Wherever it stops, the next flag comes from that continent. In State & region mode the wheel is not used; flags come from the country set you chose.
3. Name the flag
Tap an answer. You see right away whether you were correct: green for right, red for wrong, with the correct name shown so you learn it for next time.
4. Finish the round
After 10 questions you get your score out of 10 and a list of the flags you missed. Press Play again for a new round, or Share result to send your score to friends.
Flag quiz modes: Easy, Hard and state flags
There are three modes, so the quiz suits a first-time player as well as a geography fan. Each mode keeps its own best score.
Countries – Easy
Four answer choices per flag, drawn from countries around the world. This is a good starting point for kids and casual players.
Countries – Hard
Six answer choices, all from the same continent. Telling neighbors apart is much harder, because many flags in one region share colors, stripes and symbols.
State & region flags
Choose one of 23 countries' region sets, such as US states, Canadian provinces or Japanese prefectures, then answer with four choices from that set. Use this mode as a state flags quiz during a lesson on US states, or to learn the regions of a country you plan to visit.
Scoring, streaks and best scores
Each correct answer is worth 1 point, so a perfect round is 10 out of 10. A live streak counter shows how many flags you have named correctly in a row.
- Your best score is saved separately for each mode, so Easy and Hard results never mix.
- A wrong answer resets the streak, but your round score keeps counting.
- Badges such as Flag Rookie (finish a round), Flag Master (10 out of 10), Flag Streak (10 correct in a row) and Globe Trotter (a correct flag on every continent) unlock as you play.
- Scores, streaks and badges are stored only in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account.
The daily flag challenge
The Daily Challenge is the same 5 country flags for everyone today, with four answer choices each and no spin. A new set starts every day at midnight UTC.
When you finish, you can share your result as a small grid of green and red squares, one square per flag. It shows how you did without giving away the answers, so friends, classmates or family members can try the same five flags and compare.
Ideas for classrooms, families and parties
A flag quiz is short, visual and easy to play as a group, which makes it useful in many settings.
- Classrooms: project a round at the start of a geography lesson and let students call out answers, or use State & region mode during a unit on US states or Canadian provinces.
- Families: take turns spinning and answering, and see who can top the scoreboard in each mode.
- Homework breaks: one round takes a couple of minutes, and the missed-flags list doubles as a study list.
- Game nights: play the Daily Challenge together, then compare your grids.
- Travel: practice the flags of the continent or country you are about to visit.
Tips for guessing flags
- Look at the layout first. Vertical or horizontal stripes, a cross, a small flag in the corner or an emblem in the center rules out many choices at once.
- Use the continent. Once the wheel says Oceania or South America, think about which flags from that region you already know.
- Check small details on similar flags, such as the order of the colors or the number and shape of the stars.
- Review the list of missed flags after each round. Those are the ones to learn next.
- Move up to Hard mode once Easy feels simple. Six choices from one continent is a real test of what you know.
Is the flag quiz fair?
Yes. The continent wheel uses the same crypto-random wheel engine as every WheelPlay wheel, so each spin is a random pick that does not depend on earlier spins. No continent is favored and no one can steer the result.
The Daily Challenge is identical for everyone on the same day, so every shared grid comes from the same five flags. That makes scores easy to compare.
